Excessive Blushing and How to Cope with it
Most people that have a blushing problem do not consider it to be a phobia at first. They start off aware that they blush easily and, though it does trouble them, it does not affect their lives in any major way. They may just put it down to their health or a passing phase and so can get on with their lives as normal.
However, when the blushing does not stop quickly, especially if it appears to become worse, it can turn into a strong phobia that makes your life hell for some time. What is most annoying is that other people cannot see it.
Like any other phobia, Erythrophobia starts off harmlessly enough but progresses over time. There are two distinct stages - the initial stage of blushing easily every now and again, and the excessive blushing that comes as you become more and more self-conscious.
Excessive blushing can affect you physically as well as mentally. It can become so bad that you might worry about it all the time. In fact, the more you worry, the more you will blush.
If you blush easily, it may happen only a few times a week but excessive blushing can happen a few times a day. Actually, blushing easily may just be slight blushing but excessive blushing is often intense and will mentally burn you up.
This may seem extremely concerning and can cause some people to go into a blind panic, but help is close by. You can actually learn to manage your blushing as time passes. You can resist it, in a manner of speaking, as well as decrease the intensity of your blushing as well.
As you begin to manage the problem of excessive blushing it becomes easier as time passes. However, actually starting to deal with the problem is the most difficult part for most people. If you find any disappointment with your progress, you may become overwhelmed by self-pity and will begin to talk yourself out of it. This is not helped by the fact that very few people understand the phobia, unless they suffer from it themselves of course.
However, if you continue to battle against the problem of excessive blushing, you will soon find that it becomes easier as time passes. Your progress will persuade you to carry on with your self-help. One small ray of hope is all it takes and you will soon find that it becomes a great deal easier to handle your blushing problem. You can even begin living a normal life once more.
